Staff

We have a team of energetic staff who are enthusastic about getting children involved in all kinds of activities.

staff   Dulkara (also known as Ducky or Nature Girl) is currently finishing her last paper of a sports degree. Her main area of interest is the outdoors. Whether it be kayaking, off road running, cycling or anything in the mountains – she’s there. Her favourite summer hideaway is Totaranui. Oh, and she has a special toe.

Legend Kids Director – Manager for OSCAR, Adventure Club and Primary School Sports Initiatives

staff   Matt grew up in Nelson playing lots of team sports, especially rugby, cricket and touch. He played his first game of rugby at 3 and still makes up for his size with good agility and speed. He enjoys most things and will give anything a go – Dulkara even managed to drag him up the Himalayas a few years back. He’s a self confessed connect four and table tennis champ  - see if you can knock him off his pedestal!

OSCAR Programme Supervisor & Primary School Sports Specialist in Rugby and Cricket

staff   Nina has just completed her primary teaching qualification. Don’t let her lack of height fool you – Nina is super tough! Nina dabbles in most things, but her favourites are kayaking, ultimate frisbee and touch. She’s also a whizz in the kitchen – especially with Thai. She’s off to Japan in May to have an explore and teach English, but we will see her happy face before then.

OSCAR Programme Assistant

Dee   Deirdre (Dee) grew up in Hong Kong and the Phillipines before moving to NZ in 2004. She has just completed year 13 at NCG. Her main interests are netball, hurdles, football and dancing (latin, ballroom and new vogue). With 3 younger brothers, watch out..Dee has all the tricks! Next year she’s off to Otago to start a PE degree, but hopefully we will see more of her during our holiday programmes. Can anyone beat Dee’s record? She has broken her arm 5 times.

OSCAR Programme Assistant

staff   Janine holds genetic responsibility for most of Dulkara’s dubious traits. She grew up in India sitting on dry buffalo turds for entertainment and since then has lived in many different places around the world. She’s still wondering what she’ll do when she grows up and how to spend her second half century. She enjoys offroad running, photography, writing, and getting her poor English students to do quirky challenges such as eating worms or walking  down Trafalgar Street in flippers!

 OSCAR Programme Supervisor

staff  Gavin is from Murchison, but during the school term he boards at Barnicoat House. He covers for us on our after-school programme. He can usually be found wherever the biggest surf is around Nelson – any season, all weather..he’s there. He also enjoys playing rugby, ultimate frisbee and touch. Gav is the Borderline Talent King of Nelson College when it comes to holding a plank, holding a spoon on his nose and  doing his homework blindfold. Ask him to show you his moonwalk – he’s the man!
